Pen Islandia is a faithful recreation of the original Astonia 3 — the same world, quests, monsters, and feel you remember. If you played back in the day, everything you know still holds true. We've added just two things to make grouping up more rewarding:

  • A party system. Team up with other players and everyone earns full experience from shared kills — plus a 25% bonus on top, so playing together is always better than going it alone. See how parties work →
  • A new support class: the Priest. A brand-new third class alongside the classic Warrior and Mage, built to heal, buff, and keep the party alive.

Everything else is Astonia 3 exactly as it was.

What is Pen Islandia?

Pen Islandia is a massively multiplayer online role playing game (in short, MMORPG). Each player assumes the role of a battle-hardened warrior or a powerful mage. He or she enters the world of Pen Islandia and begins to train for battle. The experience gained as characters solve quests, discover new places, and kill evil monsters, can be applied to raise any of a large number of attributes, skills and spells. Characters gain rank and power, qualifying them for better and more powerful equipment for the new and greater challenges that lie ahead...

Pen Islandia is a free, community-run server keeping this classic alive — powered by an open-source community server. No subscriptions. No trial periods. Just the game as it was.

How to Start Playing

Unlike the old days, there is no 28-day trial and no US$ 9.95 monthly fee — the server is free to play.

  1. Create your character. Head to the Create a Character page and pick a name, password, and class (Warrior, Mage, or the new Priest).
  2. Download the client. Grab the Pen Islandia Windows client (everything included — no extra downloads needed).
  3. Unpack it. Right-click the downloaded file → Extract All… You'll get a windows_client folder.
  4. Play! Open that folder and double-click Play Pen Islandia. Type your character name and password, then press PLAY.

If Windows shows a blue “protected your PC” box the first time, click More info → Run anyway — it's just because the launcher isn't code-signed.

Prefer not to download? You can also play directly in your browser — no install required. Just create a character and jump straight in. (The downloadable Windows client is recommended for the smoothest experience.)
